Perfectionism is just another excuse people use to keep them from creating the business and life they really want.
Screw perfect.
Be raw, be real, and go for it. Because no one can relate to perfect, and no successful business was ever started under perfect circumstances anyway. There’s always going to be a hitch in your plans. And there will even be times you totally screw things up. But if you trust yourself without flinching big things happen.
There’s a beauty in imperfection that naturally attracts people. And even when you mess up, you can bet that someone is watching you breathing a sigh of relief because they can relate to you on a deeper level.
Most people are fed up with people who put on a good face and act like everything in life is sunshine and rainbows. They are looking for people who are transparent.
Be yourself unapologetically.
You may drive people away, but for everyone that you send the other direction, you’ll attract even more of the right people to you.
Who wants any relationship, business or otherwise, where you aren’t free to be who you are?
If you start your business as someone you’re not, you will always feel in conflict. You won’t be in alignment with your true self, and the people you attract to your business will only add to that conflict.
If you are wholly and passionately yourself, you will draw like-minded people to your business who are enthusiastic about buying from you.
Why is that?
Because you’ve connected.
You’ve built a real relationship, even if you’ve never met them face to face.
When that happens, you aren’t building a business. You’re building community. And there is power in community for your business and your customers.
That kind of alignment can radically change your life and the lives of the people you’re helping.
Always be true to yourself in your business. You don’t have to let perfectionism hold you back from the life you want.
Believe That You Have Everything Inside of You Change Your Life
Call me naive, but I believe that so many people fail in business because they simply don’t believe they can do it.
Be hungry and foolish.
Instead of coming up with all the reasons why you can’t, daydream about all the ways things are possible.
Even if you’ve carefully calculated all the risks, the numbers check out, and you’ve set everything in line how it should be, you still can’t prevent setbacks. Obstacles have a way of finding you, no matter how well-prepared you think you are.
This is especially true for entrepreneurs.
That can be a scary thought, but if you look at it from a different angle, there’s hope in that.
If obstacles find you no matter what, then you might as well go after what you want.
From someone who’s been there, done that, the obstacles you face when you’re chasing after something you’re passionate about are worth it. And any day of the week, I’ll take those obstacles over the obstacles that happen from simply existing in a life I never wanted.
Don’t stress over setbacks, failures, and hard times. Embrace them as part of the journey, and see them as moments that expand into a new set of possibilities you never even considered beforehand.
Allow yourself to think bigger.
Never stop daydreaming about what your life could be, because when you trust yourself that deeply, and believe you can accomplish everything in life that you want to accomplish…
Anyone is capable of accomplishing more than they ever dreamed of.
Maybe that kind of power scares you.
Maybe you are living in your excuses because you know that everything in Hank’s interview and this post is true, but you are scared to admit it.
